What vitamins to take during pregnancy
Inside the mother's womb the child goes through three major stages of life before birth. In each trimester, the woman and the fetus their needs for vitamins. In the first trimester (and even better - about three months before conception), vitamins A, E, C, as well as calcium, iodine and folic acid are most needed.
Vitamin A allows the embryo to functionally divide cells to form different organs. Vitamin E - protects the body from miscarriage and is able to balance the metabolism. Vitamin C is needed for the placenta to form properly, and to strengthen the immune system. To get these trace elements, it is worthwhile to include in the diet plenty of citrus fruits, black currants, cabbage, kiwi, liver, dried apricots, spinach, carrots, tomatoes and various greens.
Calcium in the first trimester is needed for the embryo to form a skeleton. If it is not enough, the fetus will receive the substance from the mother's body, and she may lose her teeth and get problems with bones in the future.Iodine is required by almost all residents of Russia, since most of them live in areas with low iodine content in water and soil. Without this substance, the unborn child risks mental development and the health of the thyroid gland. You can get these vitamins from seafood, figs, cabbage and dairy products.
In the second trimester, doctors recommend getting more iron, keep iodine and calcium intake. Iron protects the fetus from the likelihood of anemia, and mother - from the likely decrease in the tone of the uterus. Therefore, in the diet is to enter the veal, as well as meat of turkey and rabbit. For iron to be absorbed better, you need to replace tea and coffee with juices (citrus is better).
In the third trimester, vitamins A and C, iron are again relevant. They should add vitamin D - protection against rickets of the baby. You can get it from cod liver, salmon, sardines and egg yolk or cow oil. Even better, take fish oil.
