I Want to Start A Pet Blog

I have been thinking a lot about creating a pet blog lately. Chizka and her puppies inspired me to create one. I want to start a blog that only talks about pets, mainly dogs and that focuses the life of my baby Chiz and her cute pups.  It would be nice to have a page in the web that only talks about them and my future pets. I have this feeling that  there’ll be more pet dogs to come in my life. I planned on getting a new Labrador as Sarah’s replacement. If you still remember, Sarah was my first dog. It was in her that I truly realized how loyal and lovable dogs are if you’ll only take good care of them. It was in her that started loving dogs . Also, I planned on getting a pure Pom too and a Shih Tzu. It will be very expensive but I hope to find a good deal. I just love dogs so much!

Two Days With Insomnia

I slept all day today. It was good for I needed those long hours of sleep. My eyes and body claimed those two days of sleeplessness and stress. I was up for two days, yes that was 48 hours, due to insomnia. Being up for 48 hours is my worst so far when having insomnia. If you are like me who suffers such sleep condition, you truly can relate how hard it is to catch even a nap when insomnia attack. You cannot sleep the whole night so when morning comes, you’ll feel weak and tired and your eyes feel heavy or sleepy. The bad thing though, even how hard you’ll try to close your eyes to catch some sleep, your mind gets too active making the much-needed sleep so elusive.

So during those days, I just stayed in front the computers to either blog or watch dramas online and then when tired with the computer, I alternately played Xbox.  I was like blogging since 6 in the morning until midnight then watch some episodes of Korean dramas from midnight until two or in the morning. That was all sitting and typing and looking at the screen I did. I only stood up to get myself a glass of coffee or to go to the bathroom to pee.

Then at around three early in the morning when tired when all the computer/online work, I sit on the couch and faced the challenges in Baldur’s Gate in my Xbox game Dark Alliance II. When totally exhausted, I only lied down to rest my eyes and body…though the mind wasn’t. So these are all the things I did in two of insomnia.

A Picture That Started an Online Friendship

It is time to walk down the memory lane again to bring to mind those sweet, happy, and sad but worth-sharing memories. I would like to share this one memorable photo that started a friendship between me and ate Therz after uploading it on Friendster. Yes, it happened during the friendster era. Also, this ‘share’ is kind of delicious too…why?

It’s a picture taken at a Jolly-Kiddy Party I attended with the hub! This was taken way back in 2008 I think. Yes, it was 2008 because I surely was married in this size of me in the picture. Haist, see what my husband did to me? He turned me into a…fine… not-so-huge whale but still a whale.

Anyway, this very picture above brought back memories of friendship. That’s the picture that started the friendship between me and ate Therz through a social networking site, Friendster.

See our conversation below:

Ate Therz was the wife of hubby’s friend (an ex-wife now). By the time we met online, she was at the US working while the husband stayed in the Philippines watching over their home construction located not very far from where we lived then. I liked her. She was so warm and friendly that we became friends at a blink. It was fun talking to her esp. when we talked about our other half. I knew she was happy about her husband then but later we heard a bad news that they were breaking up. It happened after she came to the Philippines for a vacation. It was also the first time we met personally, would be the last. She found someone in the US and was reported pregnant. Since then, she stopped talking to me online.

I didn’t know why she stopped contacting me but I had a feeling she was shy or just didn’t feel like talking to me. As a woman and a wife who’s currently undergoing bad issues in marriage  I can understand her.  She sure has one good reason why she left the hubby’s friend and whatever the reason was, I respect it.  I still like her and I will treasure the online friendship we once had.

The 50 Cents Glutinous Rice Rolled in Banana Leaf

Where can you buy glutinous rice rolled and wrapped in banana leaf (suman) for only 50 centavos (Philippine money) these days? Nowadays, you can’t buy a piece of suman for that price.

Back in 1990 or 1992, if I am not mistaken, I used to wake up early dawn at 4 in the morning and sit outside our house alone and sometimes with my brother to wait for the old lady who purveyed glutinous rice rolled in banana leaf then. We called her lola Dadang. She has the best suman ever! Each roll cost 50 centavos those days for a 9 to 10 inches long and two inches thick rolled glutinous cake. I was about 4 or 5 years old then and my brother was around 3. Everything was cheap and affordable.

the photo is not mine

So waiting for glutinous rice old lady used to be my practice every morning with my brother. Every night, our mother put some money under our pillow for that glutinous rice so we don’t need to wake her up to ask for money. Four to five rolls for each (brother and me) was enough for our breakfast along with a glass of hot Liberty condensed milk or a glass of hot Milo or Ovaltine chocolate drink.

I missed those days, those days when I set outside our house at early dawn patiently waiting for my yummy breakfast. I missed the sweet smell of fresh air and the cold breeze, which I don’t smell and feel nowadays. I miss the simplicity of my world, the carefree life. Above all, I missed that old lady who used to sell rolled glutinous rice cake for 50 cents.

Dreaming of A White Christmas

I’m dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white

I’m listening to this song right now. It’s funny, instead of being merry while listening to this song, I am feeling gloomy inside…and then there goes the tears running down.

Haist, here’s me again, dreaming of a white Christmas but it seems like that my Christmas is going to be blue again this year. It will surely be as blue as what I truly feel inside. Not that it is only blue, it is as well empty. It is breaking my hurt, that thinking. I’ll make sure though that when Christmas eve comes, I’ll show the sweetest smile and burst the happiest laugh among us here.

Okay, pardon me. I am in a melancholic mood right now.  Just right now. It happens when I remember someone special (even though he…tsk never mind). You can’t blame me. It is just that the Christmas this year will be the third Christmas I’ll celebrate without the husband. Although I am with my family, it would be nicer to have him celebrate Christmas with me, with us. I hope that he’ll have the merriest White Christmas this year.

To those who are going to have a white Christmas, I also hope you’ll have the merriest one. Enjoy it and spend it with your family.

I am linking this picture to 366 Blog Photo Challenge and Wednesday Whites.
