NYPD Officer's Widow Gives Birth to Their Baby More Than 2 Years After His Murder
Two-and-a-half years after Detective Wenjian Liu, 32, was killed in the line of duty, the NYPD News announced his widow, Sanny Liu, gave birth to their child.
The night Liu was killed, Sanny requested the hospital preserve her husband's semen so they could one day become parents, the statement explained. Through IVF, she was able to get pregnant late last year.
Maria Dziergowski, a woman whose NYPD husband was also killed, told the New York Postthe day Sanny was inseminated, "she had a dream that Wenjian was there in a white gown looking like an angel and that he handed her a baby, and he said, 'It's a girl, a little angel,'" despite not even knowing she was pregnant. "So [she] knew before everyone that it was a girl."
Dziergowski also told the paper both mom and "adorable, smiling, laughing" baby, whose name is Angelina, are doing well. Liu's parents Wei Tang Liu and Xiu Yan Li were at the hospital for the birth of their grandson.
"Now, Detective Liu's legacy can live on through his daughter," the NYPD's post concluded. "And as far as Detective Liu's legacy goes, Sanny can't wait to tell Angelina that her father was a hero.
