Matthew Williamson launches his first diffusion line
The British designer’s MW by Matthew Williamson range has just hit the web
When news reached us that designer was launching a more affordable diffusion line, we could hardly contain our excitement. And now the collection has finally launched, we’re pleased to say that it doesn’t disappoint.
The collection, named MW by Matthew Williamson, features glamorous cocktail dresses, ‘60s-inspired coats, jersey tops and jewellery, and carries many of the hallmarks of the Mancunian designer’s eponymous mainline – think luxe prints, heaps of embellishment and pops of colour – but at a fraction of the cost.
The contemporary collection will be sold exclusively through designer e-boutique my-wardrobe.com, and the first autumn/winter 2011 drop has just hit the web. Highlights include a leopard print bubble-sleeved coat, a red carpet worthy black floor-length dress and a jersey body. More pieces are expected to go online in the coming days, so keep clicking back to check. Prices start at £98 for a necklace.
Williamson has delved into designing more affordable collections before, but never under his own label. He previously created pieces for the Butterfly by Matthew Williamson range for department store Debenhams, and in 2009 he collaborated with Swedish high street giant H&M for an eagerly anticipated collection that sold out within hours.
