How to understand that the child has worms?
Helminthiasis is a disease that is caused by inferior worms or, as they are also called, worms. In fact, almost every one of us came across it, however, according to medical workers, it is the children who make up the bulk of the infected (about 80%).
The children's body is not always able to resist such parasites, unlike adults, children are more restless, moreover, their immune system is not yet perfect, and, therefore, the risks automatically increase.
This question is particularly relevant in spring and summer, when the season of games opens on the street, in the sandbox, in the park, communicating with street cats and dogs, as well as active interaction with other children.
How does the infection occur?
At the age of 1.5 to 4 years, children lead a very active lifestyle, while infection can occur both at home and on the street or in kindergarten. Quite the same little children are engaged in the active development of the world, they are trying to try everything and drag them into their mouths, and it doesn’t matter to them what it is: toys or their mother’s mobile phone.
A significant role is played by flies and other insects that are carriers of worms and, periodically, they sit down on fruits and other food products.
Worm larvae are very tenacious and hardy, they are able to survive for a long time in the soil, in the folds of clothes, on plants or on the surface of other objects. As soon as they enter the oral cavity, and then pass into the stomach, their activation begins: it is in the intestines of the human body that the most favorable conditions for their reproduction and development take place.
The main symptoms of the disease
How to understand that a child has worms? After parasites enter the body, they begin their development process, while using the nutrients that the baby's body is filled with.
As a result, normal metabolic processes are disrupted, the children's body weakens, and the products of the vital activity of the worms continue to poison the child, causing various external symptoms and manifestations. Over time, the baby becomes increasingly capricious and sluggish, it quickly becomes irritated and tired, possibly the appearance of allergic reactions.
The brightest sign of the presence of worms in your offspring is, of course, detection of real worms in the stool, however, reliable information about the disease you can get only after passing certain tests.
Other symptoms may also indicate an existing infection: frequent itching in the anus, excessive thinness, gritting of teeth during sleep, anorexia, nausea and stomach pain in the morning, rash on the forearms, general pallor of the skin and bruises under the eyes.
In order not to torment oneself with guesses for a long time, in the presence of certain indirect symptoms, it is better to go straight to the doctor who will prescribe the necessary tests and, if necessary, the correct treatment. Usually, a threefold analysis is done for this, as well as several related surveys.
In general, of course, it is better not to allow the development of a similar disease, because removing parasites from a child’s body is not such an easy task, because, as you know, worms can adapt to a wide variety of conditions, and therefore partially survive even with a sufficiently powerful treatment.
Surprisingly, in adulthood, helminthiasis is no longer such a big danger to a personbecause by this time he gets a more perfect immune system, which contributes to the destruction of the worms larvae even when they enter the intestine. However, prevention should not be neglected, because if you didn’t know, worms can be transmitted even through a handshake!
- All the basic rules of prevention are reduced to the observance of the rules of personal hygiene: wash hands before eating, after using the toilet, after talking with animals and after going out into the street. It is very important to inculcate these skills in a child from the very young age.
- Houses periodically make a wet cleaning, especially if there are animals in the room, wipe the furniture, wash the toys brought from the street with soap, and also vacuum carpets and upholstered furniture.
- Do not allow a child to eat unwashed fruits, berries and vegetables, be sure to thermally process fish, meat and boil water before eating.
- Watch the child on the street: it is important that he did not pick up foreign objects from the floor and, moreover, did not pull his hands into his mouth after that.
What to do if the child still found worms? After all the necessary tests have been submitted, it is necessary to begin urgent treatment, which should not be put on hold, otherwise the consequences could be the most deplorable.
However, you should not be too scared, modern medicine has a whole arsenal of various drugs and methods that will get rid of parasites, the main thing is not to start the ailment.
Starting the fight against helminth infections, it is necessary not only to get rid of the worms themselves, but also from the products of their vital activity, which may have the appearance of larvae in various places in your home. To do this, regularly wash your own and the baby's things in high temperature water, or even better - to boil.
For processing home furniture and other textiles, you can use tools with a high chlorine content or, more benign, solutions based on vinegar. The safest treatment is considered folk remedies, which are prepared on the basis of herbal ingredients.
A very effective and common method is the reception of fresh carrot juice. Dosage is as follows: every morning on an empty stomach you need to drink 200 ml of juice for 3 weeks. How to remove worms if the child flatly refuses to drink carrot juice? Try another popular folk remedy - pumpkin seeds!
They must be taken for a long time, at least 1 month, on an empty stomach about 100 g of the product. Another means will suit very small children: take 1 tsp. Of hemp oil, two times a day is enough. Folk recipes can be combined with each other, so the effect of the drug doubles.
If home treatment did not give the expected result, then perhaps you should undergo serious drug treatment, the composition and dosage of which can be prescribed only by a doctor.
It is desirable that all members of the family be examined and treated, exactly the same way as compliance with all hygiene methods. Surprisingly, someone’s worming may not have any symptoms at all, and the person will still be the carrier and disseminator of the disease. That is why in this case it is better to be safe once again. Good luck in treatment and do not get sick!
