After all, they have no mouth, no teeth, no digestive system. For many centuries, scientists have studied this interesting process. As a result, it was found that plants use two methods to obtain nutrients - root and air nutrition.

Root Nutrition

The root system of different plants varies in its power - to see this, it is enough to compare the roots, for example, carrots and potatoes. However, it is the same rule for everyone that young roots have the greatest ability to absorb minerals from the soil. Over time, they become a little more rude and lose this ability.Therefore, the root system has not only one root, but tends to the emergence of new roots and looks bushy.

The roots absorb the nutrients in the soil, not directly, but with the help of water. Moisture evaporates from the stomata on the leaves of plants and pressure is formed from the bottom up, which tends to fill the voids after the evaporated liquid. Mineral substances are dissolved in water and absorbed under the action of this pressure through the root system into the plant. First, they fill the extracellular space, and then penetrate into the cells of plants.

Knowing this way of feeding, we understand the importance of timely watering our plants, especially during the drought period. After all, evaporation during such a period increases and plants need to �replenish their reserves� of substances, and without irrigation, they will not be able to do this.

Air powered

Photosynthesis - the process of plant nutrition, during which the processing of inorganic energy into organic. Chlorophyll is present in the green parts of plants. Plants feed on carbon dioxide absorption from the air. Carbon dioxide enters the cells containing chlorophyll, and there under the action of sunlight is processed into organic matter and water.When this happens, another important process is the release of oxygen by plants into the environment. Ecologists use this skillfully to create green spaces in places with polluted air.
