Building glass: types and technologies of creation

For various purposes, different types of glass are developed with various advanced features.
Main types of construction glass:
- laminated glass (triplex);
- reinforced glass;
- strained glass.

Laminated glass


Laminated glass is a complex of two or three sheets of glass, interconnected by a special film or adhesive, which greatly increases the safety of glass to others. Mechanically, such glass does not become more durable, however, when this type of glass is destroyed, the fragments do not fly away, but are held in a frame or doorway with a film. In addition, laminated glass has a high noise insulation.
Triplexes are widely used in the automotive industry, as well as in the construction of modern buildings of "glass and concrete."

Armored glass


Reinforced glass - most often used in production, is produced in the form of sheet non-folded canvas.This is a high-strength type of glass, reinforced from the inside with a metal mesh frame.
In the manufacture in the middle of the sheet metal mesh is placed. The most commonly used welded steel mesh, to improve the quality of glass is often used mesh with an additional aluminum coating.
Due to its reinforced base, such glass is able to withstand considerable mechanical loads, in addition, if damaged, the fragments are fixed in the frame and minimize the possible damage to others.

Strained glass


Tempered glass is a type of glass that has undergone special heat treatment. The glass is brought to the melting temperature, followed by rapid cooling with air. As a result of such an impact, glass acquires special properties, including increased strength, resistance to mechanical stress. Hardened glass is not a scary time, it does not become cloudy and does not lose transparency.
With the destruction of tempered glass, glass fragments are so small that they are much less dangerous to others than fragments of ordinary glass.
Tempered glass is used in interiors, in the manufacture of office furniture, rarely in glass partitions.
Changing the physical characteristics of glass in the production of building glass allows you to maintain all the positive properties of glass, minimizing weaknesses, such as insufficient strength, instability to mechanical loads, a high level of danger during destruction.
