Brother’s Arrival

DSC03555

I accompanied my father after lunch today to the health center. Cheep went with us too for she needed to see a dentist. After conducting a series of check-up and informing his finding to my father’s condition, the doctor gave out the prescribed medicines that papa has to take for one week. The whole check-up ended with an X-Ray test. It was finished around four in the afternoon.

When done at the doctor, we went back straight to the apartment and to our surprise, brother was waiting for us. He’s already home! We were so happy to see him again. He’ll be staying at the apartment until I move to our house in Manukan. He didn’t went straight there to see our mother because he’s shy. They had a heated a conversation before he went to Manila last March and he thought mother is still mad at him. Read more »

Sure is Sure

Lot’s of good news today!

1. The sure is sure. If you are wondering why, read my previous post. I received the repayment today. I am all smiles.

2. I paid the rent for July and August, the overdue rent. I also paid for September, which is my final rent. I didn’t touch the advance rent that I paid to the lessor last year to reserve it for the utility bills.

3. I received a text message from my brother that he’ll arrive tomorrow at three in the afternoon. He took the ferry via Ozamis and from Ozamis he’ll take a bus to my apartment. I can’t wait to see him.

What “Sure” is really “Sure”?

Can you sue someone (an older woman whom I do not want to have a fight with) who spends your money off your check? What if you willingly lent it to that someone out of kindness? My kindness had again put me in trouble. Or is it my stupidity that led me to it? Now that I need that money I don’t have it.

It was borrowed last May by someone who “surely” promised to pay on June 20. And oh take note; I was tricked by her that’s why she was able to borrow it with no sweat. Came June 20 she still wasn’t able to pay for some lame reasons. She then gave me another “sure” date to pay which was July 20. 20 seems her favorite number. Again came July 20, still she didn’t able to give my money back. She then again gave another “sure” date which was August 20. Still, she hadn’t paid back. Since I really needed the money this month, I pressured her (which she justly deserves) to pay within this month. She told me she is “sure” to pay Tuesday, August 28.

Today is August 28. I was expecting to receive the payment today but to my dismay, she only sent a message saying she is in Zamboanga City for it is where she can get the money to pay me back. I then again read another “sure” date which is tomorrow August 29. I’ll see then if that “sure” is really “sure” because I am “sure” tired believing her “sure” is really “sure”. I wonder if there will be another “sure” tomorrow.

Rent Overdue

I received a notice today about my overdue rent. It is two months I haven’t paid as I’ve been waiting for my also overdue checks. The pretty wife of the owner of the apartment came in and asked me to settle my account. I promised I’ll pay before the month ends after receiving a message saying I’ll be getting my checks on the 28th.

I do understand their concern being the lessor for I as well had faced the same situation before with one of our lesse in one of the rooms we have rented out. As for my situation, I do have money with me in hand but I cannot risk it for it is our monthly budget and for emergency. My dad has been sick lately so I had that money set for emergency. Besides, that money I have my check dated for August is really what I had saved to cover my final three months rent for the apartment.

I am thankful that they (the lessor) patiently waited this time. I hope to be able to clear my rental account this September and so I can move to our house in Manukan.

Cousins Chitchat

My closest cousin visited in the apartment at lunch time today with her youngest daughter. I was so happy upon seeing them. Seeing them is like being home. I missed my cousin even though we had a few misunderstandings. She is one of the people who I dislike most; the one who creates stories about me and spreads it to anybody. But well, she’s a family. I already taught myself to be numb since I’ll be living there soon. Read more »

Brother Wants to Go Home

I received a text message from my brother early morning today. He said he wants to go home as he can no longer take the unpleasant treatment of our aunts in Manila. My brother went to Manila last May to join the Philippine Army Training but wasn’t able to push through for some reasons. He went finding a job to work and ended working different jobs available like construction jobs. What a pity! I remember what he said to our mother before when the latter asked him to apply a job in a department store. He said he will apply to a job only when it requires him to hold a pen. Yet, he ended up doing a hard labor in a construction site carrying bags of cement and files of steel. Read more »

Korean Drama Mood: The Moon that Embraces the Sun

Cheep and I were so engrossed with the Korean drama we were watching. It is a historical drama series The Moon That Moon that Embraces the Sun led by Han Ga In (the Witch Yo hee) and Kim Soo-hyun (Dream High). Its title is taken off the name of the hairpin “The Moon that Emraraces the Sun” that the crown prince had personally made for his crown princess. The said drama is a period drama that took place during the Joeson Era. It took us more than a week to finish watching the drama and it is worth our time for we fell in love with the characters, we laughed, we cried, we hated the bad people and most of all, we learned a lesson.

It is a nice drama with a nice plot and with a nice ending too. Although it has some dragging scenes. Still, we both recommend it. Actually it is my second time watching it. Its first episode did succeed in invoking us both to watch further and so we did and finished it completely this afternoon after a week of watching. We both love it! You must watch it too.
